How what we eat, and when, shapes health across generations

I am a nutritional and perinatal epidemiologist at National Taiwan University. My group studies maternal diet, chrono-nutrition and gestational diabetes, using pregnancy cohorts and continuous glucose monitoring across Asia and Europe.

A day in chrono-nutrition: daylight and night, an eating window with three meals, the rise in glucose after each meal (illustrative), and the overnight fast. The hand settles on the time in Taipei now. Select the clock to replay.

What we study

More about our research

  • Chrono-nutrition and meal timing

Whether the timing of meals matters alongside what is eaten: night eating, irregular meal times, fasting duration and time-restricted eating.

  • Gestational diabetes and continuous glucose monitoring

Using minute-by-minute glucose data to describe glycemia across pregnancy and to predict gestational diabetes earlier.

  • Maternal diet and child health

How diet in pregnancy relates to birth outcomes, body composition and cardiometabolic health in childhood.

  • Evidence synthesis

Network, dose-response and individual participant data meta-analyses that answer questions single studies cannot.
